Nasa photographs the alphabet from space-does the lack of an author render these ‘letters’ meaningless?

Do we need an intended for a work to have meaning? Is Richard Dawkins right to say since there is no Creator, it is foolish to ponder the universe’s meaning?

If a shape in the sand appeared to spell a word and you discover later it had been written by someone, would that in any way affect your opinion of it?
